Biography

NEWS - Jan. 2012

"Ring Around the Moon" is now available in both e-book and paperback formats.

It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Not to her. Not to sensible Beth Ormond. She’d rented Quest Cottage in Cornwall to get away from the hassles back home in the States, and to think through her future as a single Mom.

Tired after driving from Heathrow airport, she got out of the car. A full moon glowed in the night sky. She hurried up to the cottage but stopped in her tracks as a man emerged from a nearby stand of trees and called out to her.

Alan Tremaine had traveled from the past to the present time with a story so bizarre Beth couldn’t get her mind around it, unless she disregarded her scientific training and believed in time travel.

Could she? Did she want to?

At Sea and Ashore

My beloved friend and relative, Hamor Gardner, served in the Canadian Merchant Navy during the war. He has written a wonderful book about life at sea as Sparks, a radio operator. The stories stretch from Canada, Murmansk to Madras.

The book is At Sea and Ashore, published by Trafford Publishing.

At Sea and Ashore
would make a wonderful gift for someone who loves the sea and stories about the sea.

HAPPENINGS

Interview with Author Anita Birt  by fellow author, Sandra Cox.

With us today is Anita Birt. Welcome Anita! Tell us about your current project.

My current project is a historical romance, Regency period. I have two heroines and two heroes so juggling the two stories creates a plotting problem. The action takes place in the English countryside.

What will I as a reader like best about your hero?

As a reader you will be drawn to both men. They are handsome, intelligent and thoughtful. The older hero, Jack Montrose, is in 35. He's a parish priest, Church of England, who is going to inherit his brother's title and wealth and this will change his life. The younger man, Douglas, Lord Hawkely, heir to a dukedom has major problems to deal with. An intruder lurking in the family home. A prodigal brother returning from abroad who may or may not be a thief. A pregnant young woman seeking the man who wronged her.

Tell us about your heroine/s.
Lady Estella Creston, a beautiful sexy widow of 29 has the task of preparing her niece, Lady Victoria, 19, to be presented to London society. Not a simple task. Victoria refuses to wear a corset and would rather hunt and fish than spend time with empty headed young men vying for her attention. Men are drawn to Estella's classic beauty even Jack Montrose who vowed not to love again after the untimely death of his young wife ten years ago. Estella and Jack are both caught up in the strange happenings at their neighbor's mansion where Victoria was assaulted by the intruder.

Is your muse currently sitting on your shoulder or is she illusive?

My muse is sitting on my shoulder and nudging me to get back to finishing my historical romance because there's another story clamoring to be heard. More of that another time.

Who is your favorite author?

One of my favorite current authors is Alexander McCall Smith author of The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and the series that followed. He creates wonderful sensitive characters and his sense of humor shines on every page. I'm awaiting the release of Jo Beverley's latest historical romance. I have read all her books. They are classics. I read a broad range of books and have just finished "EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE" by Jonathan Safran Foer.

Who is your favorite author?

Books available now are: My historical romance, A Very Difficult Man, released last February. Isabelle's Diary, released September 7th and Isabelle's Story released on December 27th, all are available from Cerridwen Press. I'm putting up the cover and excerpt of Isabelle's Diary and then hope readers will want to purchase, Isabelle's Story, the story of the girl who wrote the diary.

Come in!
  • Anita is on FACEBOOK - poke her to say hello.
  • Anita has just been a guest on fellow author, Jenyfer Matthews', blog. ( Jan. 31 posting)

I'd like to introduce Anita Birt, another great author with Cerridwen Press.

Anita says that for her, writing romance novels is like having a love affair with words. Characters emerge. Plots develop. Crises erupt. Her historical stories are set in England, Scotland and Wales, countries she knows well. The writing gene is in Anita’s blood as well. Her mother, Elsie Bell Gardner, wrote adventure stories for girls. Although The Maxie Books are out of print they can be tracked down at
ABE Books.Anita is an avid reader and knitter. She lives on Vancouver Island with her husband, three African violets, a Christmas cactus that never blooms at Christmas and a demanding computer that sulks when neglected.

  • Blurb:

On a sunny June morning in Llandrindod Wells, Sally Carter stops for coffee at the Celtic Café. She notices a beautiful young woman dressed in somber Victorian black sitting at a window table weeping over the pages of a diary. When the girl disappears without a trace and the waitress insists the table had been vacant all morning, Sally is compelled to discover the girl’s identity.

Unraveling the mystery leads Sally on a wild goose chase with the assistance of Dr. Dan Conway, a handsome Welsh history professor. But it’s not until she returns home to Toronto that the final pieces of the puzzle fall into place.

Even then the question lingers. Why was Sally the only person to see the girl?
